We work to advance public benefit and social value focusing on veterans and young care leavers.
We provide intervention, support and research in housing, skills, and wellbeing.

Thoughtful Leadership.
Driven Action. Real Change.

The West Midlands is proud to be the engine of our national growth, innovation, and prosperity. Yet there is another side to the scale where people struggle to find their place in our society.  We focus on two groups who most often fall through the cracks: veterans, and young care leavers emerging from a recent mental health or housing crisis.

🏠 About 28,000 people in the West Midlands are homeless or in temporary accommodation (Shelter, Dec 2024).

❓ Roughly 4,300 18-to-20 year old care leavers across England were assessed as homeless last year (DfE returns, 2024) – that's a 54% rise in five years. Applying national rates that's around 500 young people at risk in the West Midlands.

🤞  One in five of the region’s 153,000 veterans may need mental health support this week—around 30,000 people (Census 2021; KCL, 2024).

Hear from veterans and care leavers who helped us to co-design our services as part of our Real, People, Real Stories research.

Local councils and charities deliver excellent crisis responses, but there’s still a gap between short-term relief and long-term recovery. Ignis Lodge exists to bridge that gap by offering stable housing, wraparound care and pathways back to happy, healthy and independent lives.
